What Causes Fine Lines and Wrinkles?
When you exercise your facial muscles, such as when you smile, frown or squint, your skin returns to its normal shape after you relax those muscles. This is due to two critical substances in your skin: collagen and elastin, which are responsible for your skin’s suppleness, volume, and elasticity.
Over time, your body produces less of these substances, so less is available to provide skin resilience. The more you use your facial muscles, the harder it is for your skin to smooth out as you get older, especially if you have subjected your skin to high doses of the sun’s rays over the years. The result is fine lines and wrinkles.
How Can Fine Lines and Wrinkles Be Treated?
Fortunately, modern medicine has devised many ways in which we can smooth out some of those fine lines and wrinkles and help ensure a more youthful appearance. These include neurotoxins like Jeuveau®, which relaxes the face and makes it smoother, and dermal fillers like Revanesse® or Bellafill®, which give the face more volume. We can even do both in what we call a liquid facelift.
We can also discuss laser treatments like InMode Lumecca Peak Advanced IPL, Fractional Laser, Revive Hat Trick or non-invasive, non-surgical radiofrequency treatments like InMode Forma and RF Microneedling. These treatments can help promote collagen production and tighten skin.
